DURANT CLARKS SUCCESSOR President of United Hunts Resigns ResignsBecause Because of Enforced Absences AbsencesFrom From Meetings MeetingsNEW NEW YORK N Y June 20 At a meet ¬ ing of the directors of the United Hunts Racing Association at which Lewis E War ¬ ing Hon James W Gerard Henry W Bull Richard Whitney H O Tallmadge A L Haskell Henry L Bell H A Buck secre ¬ tary and John Hay Whitney presiding were present F Ambrose Clark owing to his frequent absence from New York when at Cooperstown Aiken and in England re ¬ signed as president T W Durant was elected for his unexpired term of 1934 John Hay Whitney vicepresident member of the New York State Racing Commission and vicepresident of the Westchester Racing Association proposed Durant for the office The directors decided to apply for dates for an autumn meeting to be held Saturday No ¬ vember 3 and election day November 6 at Belmont Park The chief features of the pro ¬ gram will be the Gwathmey Memorial Stee ¬ plechase at two and a half miles and the Whitney Gold Trophy at one mile and a half on the flat The remainder of the pro ¬ gram will emphasize long distance flat rac ¬ ing and include the customary open and hunters steeplechases and flat races for gentlemen riders ridersThe The spring meeting of the association held at Roslyn June 1 under Hunts com ¬ mittee rules proved a sporting success The coming autumn meeting combining the best features of a hunt meeting with open stee ¬ plechases and long distance flat Taces such as the Gwathmey Memorial Steeplechase and the Whitney Gold Trophy should close the racing season in New York state in a manner typical of the best traditions of thoroughbred sport Further details of this meeting will be announced shortly
