CURLING PROVES MUCH BEST Despite Inexperienced Rider Three Year Old Filly Easily Wins Main Event at Charles Town CHARLES TOWN W V June 20 The Baileysville a dash at six and a half fur ¬ longs brought together the best field at Charles Town today and provided Curling with the opportunity to annex another purse Closest to the winner at the finish was Scotty Don one length away and a head before Clear Knight KnightCurling Curling ridden by the inexperienced C Scarpulla was much the best of the field She was sent to the front immediately after the start and an attempt of some kind was made to rate her there Entering the back stretch Curling went wide and Clear Knight attempted to go through on the inside Scarpulla moved Curling over before Clear Knight Several times Clear Knight at ¬ tempted to drive up on Curling and each time Curling was weaved over In the stretch Curling was able to hold Clear Knight safe and in the final stride Scotty Don drove up to wrest the place award from him himAnother Another good crowd was on hand to wit ¬ ness the seven races which were run under clear skies and over a track that was drying oiit fast
