PLATERS DOMINATE PROGRAM Big Fields and Cheaper Horses in Limelight at Fairmount Joseph Cattarinichs Runy Bean Repeats Repeatsin in Opening Race of Day Weather WeatherWarms Warms Up Considerably COLLINSVILLE 111 June 20 Platers a again dominated the program at Fairmount I Park Wednesday with the fifth race or the rairmount Golf Club Purse serving as the feature in which eight raced over the mile a and seyenty yards xoute inclding such con ¬ s sistent performers as Sunny Bob winner of f ive races this year Dunny Boy Who Win Vliss N Conlan and Mary Bane whiphwere successful with four victories each Ruth j Felinek a local favorite Kavalry Jack a t double winner at Riverside Park and Skibo r made up the remainder of the field fieldOverhead Overhead conditions were perfect al t hough the weather warmed up plenty dur ¬ i ing racing hours and by the fifth race I atrons were looking for the cooler places c on the grounds groundsFour Four of the races embraped limit fields while the fourth fifth and sixth races had eight starters The first race for threeyearold maidens and winners of one race in which twelve raced at six furlongs resulted in the favorite 1 luny Bean which races for Joseph Cattarin i ch earning her second straight victory at 1 the meeting The daughter of Damon Run yon raced Poppinalong into defeat after i our furlongs and had to stand a drive in I he final stages to outstay the determined rush of Our Beauty The latter was close i up throughout and had racing room for the entire distance but could not reach the win ¬ ner although going fastest in the final i eighth Poppinalong was easily best of the i others having a fourlength margin over World Traveller for the show showBob Bob Up the consistent fiveyearold mare which races for F L Everitt won another purse when she took the second race over five and a half furlongs in easy fashion from Royal See Fountain the favorite and nine other fillies and mares maresThe The winner confidently ridden by F A Smith who allowed the daughter of Upset to settle in her best stride while racing far back in the early stages was always a contender Reaching the far turn the Ever ¬ itt representative began to move up and entering the straightaway she came to the extreme outside of the pack and before reaching the eighth post was lapped on the leaders Bob Up had things her own way from the eighth post and was only cantering near the finish pulling up with a three lengths lead Royal See had much speed and held on gamely in the drive but was no match for the winner Fountain was tiring badly in the stretch and just lasted to save third thirdThere There was another driving finish in the fourth race when Whitharral a winner his last time out here and overlooked in the thebetting betting earned a neck verdict from Daisy Cutter with Portcodine third threequarters of a length behind Daisy Cutter The winner under F A Smith who was riding his second winner of the day took his time and allowed the leaders to race themselves into submission Galapan was the early leader with Terry Lass Gertrude V and Daisy Cutter fighting for the lead Entering the stretch Smith eased through a narrow opening next to the rail and passed the leaders an eighth out In the drive he managed to outgame Daisy Cutter With better racing luck Portcodine might have been much closer The J D Mikel entrant was shut off repeatedly during the early racing and was forced to come to the outside in the stretch for racing room In one of the best finishes of the day dayFoolhardy Foolhardy carrying the silks of C Lemons and expertly ridden by H Manifold finally found a field he could defeat but only after the hardest kind of a struggle His margin at the end of the six furlongs was only a head before Sis Largo which had a nose ad ¬ vantage over High Complexion It served as the third race and nine other threeyearolds and older horses made up the field
