1 FORT ERIE TURF NOTES $ , 4, Jockey Frank Dougherty accepted his first mount since his fall at Duff eriri Park when he rode Purple Gold in the opening race at Fort Erie. Jockey Len Smith was the latest rider to join the jockey colony. Smith came on from Detroit and is, under contract to the Elmtree Stable. C. H. Mitchell reports that he shipped the Canadian-bred Mr. Chink, property, of Mr. Wales, to the latters farm at Leamington. Fred Hipgrave resigned as trainer for the H. Neville stable following the close of the Hamilton meeting. Dr. Black, veterinarian, shipped Mrs. George McDermotts three-yearTOld filly Candle Fly, which was injured in a fall at Hamilton, Tuesday, to his hospital at Toronto. He reports the filly will be. • absent from the races till the fall meetings at Toronto. ■
