1 CHARLES TOWN TURF NOTES 1 4 • Preston Lane, attorney general of Maryland, accompanied by Mrs. Lane, were clubhouse visitors. Len N. Carver will ship three horses to Stamford Park at the conclusion of the meeting. He will return to take in the racing at Cumberland. Carver reports that his Steelton has been blistered. Commander and Mrs. Graves entertained a clubhouse party for the holiday. The guests included former Vice-President Charles Curtis. Trainer F. Lindsay will ship Wild Blonde and Pergola, the property of F. Patterson, to the farm at Wilmington, Del. They will later be shipped to Narragansett Park, R. I. . George A. Cook will ship to Bainb ridge Park at the termination of this meeting. D. Gray will also race at the same point and will return for the meeting at Cumberland. J. Rowes Bond will rest up his string at Timonium in preparation for the fall half mile Maryland meeting. The latest additions to starter Walter Maras schooling list are Rose Count, Play Cap, Transline and Radial. Culpepper, Va., for the holiday racing at that point. Apprentice F. Cusimano cancelled his mounts Wednesday. The lad is suffering from strained ligaments in his shoulder, suffered when his mount. Idle Worker, fell in the first race Tuesday. J. B. McLaughlin, West Virginia racing commissioner, left Wednesday night for Wheeling to discuss the prospects for a later meeting at that point. He will return to Charles Town for Saturdays racing. At the conclusion of the meeting here Fred Preece will ship his stable to Empire City. V. H. McMillan plans to race at Bainbridge when the meeting here comes to a close. Madam Fox was excused from the opening race Wednesday. The filly cut a stifle when schooling Wednesday morning. Justa Moment was scratched from the second race on the advice of the veterinarian, who pronounced the gelding lame. Dr. J. H. McCarthy journeyed to Culpepper and Middleburg, Va., where he fired two horses for C. M. Feltner.
