PEACE CHANCE ARRIVES j AT ARLINGTON PARK I «•-•■ 1 ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, 111., July 4.— Peace Chance, winner of the Belmont Stakes for J. E. Widener, and leading opponent of Cavalcade for the three-year-old championship, arrived at Arlington Park this morning from New York with five of his stable companions. He is here to settle the championship issue with the Brookmeade Stable star in the 5,000 added Classic, to be run Saturday, July 14. The handsome brown son of Chance Shot and Peace shipped in splendid fashion, and he will begin his preparation tomorrow for the mile and a quarter special. Trainer Pete Coyne personally supervised the shipment of Peace Chance and will direct his training. He will be assisted by Wayne Wright, who will guide the colt in the Classic. Peace Chance has met Cavalcade only once this year — in the Kentucky Derby — in which he suffered considerable trouble right after the start. However, he overcame this l interference sufficiently to finish fifth after , having only one horse beaten entering the back stretch. He came into his own in the • Belmont Stakes, in which he covered the i mile and a half in the fastest time in the ! long history of that event. Accompanying Peace Chance here were the juveniles Dean Swift, Mantagna, Shot ; Proof, Drinkwater and Chance Sun. All but ; Mantagna and Drinkwater are candidates i for the 0,000 Arlington Futurity, final feature of the meeting. Shot Proof is a brother to Peace Chance.
