SUN ALLEY GARNERS HONORS Takes Fourth of July Handicap Before Second Largest Crowd of Charles Town Meeting. CHARLES TOWN, W. Va., July 4.— Sun Alley, chestnut son of Sun Briar — Sallys Alley, after several unsuccessful local attempts, entered the winners circle for the tirst time in his four-year-old caicfr after the running of the Fourth of July Handicap here today. A half length in the wake of the winner Rollick was second after a tumultuous trip with two lengths to spare before Golden Vein. Sun Alley dominated the running from the outset, sprinting into the lead going to the first turn. Justa Teacher raced next before Golden Vein, which was on the rail. On the back stretch Justa Teacher tired and Golden Vein and Aldershot each made bids to reach the leader. These were futile as Sun Alley maintained a slight advantage into the stretch. Here a new threat loomed in Rollick, which had gone wide on the first turn and had been forced to take up when attempting to move up on the inside on the back stretch. When clear, Rollick was taken to the outside and, charging down the stretch swiftly, was wearing the winner down at the finish. The second largest attendance of the meeting was on hand, exceeded only by the throng of Decoration Day, and filled the compact stand to capacity. Warm weather, a clear sky and a fast track greeted the patrons, and interesting sport developed from the nine-race card. — * .
