MONTREAL, Que., July 4.— Leo D.t juve- nile son of Cudgle and Miss Hogan, racing in the red, white and blue silks of the Montreal sportsman, Leo Dandurand, raced to a rather lucky and easy victory in the Cafe St. Jacques Handicap, feature of the fifth days program at the Mount Royal course. H. C. Hatchs Whichprig raced to i the second position five lengths back of the winner and a length in advance of G. Phil-. lips Robe. Ridden by the veteran H. Gibson, who scored his second victory of the afternoon, Leo D. was very fortunate at the start, being away in stride, opened up a command- ing lead in the first quarter mile, was taken in hand around the turn, and drew out in 1 the last three furlongs to have a five-length lead at the finish. Whichprig raced in third position for three furlongs, closed well under punishment, but could never reach the winner. Robe forced the pace, began tiring in 1 the stretch run, but was easily third. 1 Another good week-day crowd attended, The weather was perfect, and the track was ! | I at its best. i
