j i , I 1 ROCKINGHAM PARK NOTES | 4 . • Mrs. Owens Pons came down from Montreal to visit her son and will return to Montreal the latter part of the week. A. L. Taylor, who is racing a string on the Quebec circuit, was an arrival. He wUl return to Montreal for the opening of Kings Park. T. J. Martel arrived from Mount Royal with the plater Daudet. A further shipment arrived from Syracuse, made up of stables of the following owners: J. Eckert, four; J. McTague, two; Paul Sanford, four; R. Jackson, three; C. A. Starita, three, and H. Lavery, two. Nominations for the Dartmouth Handicap, ,500 added prize to be decided Wednesday, July 25, closed Wednesday, July 18. The string of W. S. Kilmer that Henry McDaniel has been campaigning at Rockingham will be shipped to Saratoga at the conclusion of the present meeting. Trainer T. J. Healey is sending the C. V. Whitney division that is being campaigned at the New Hampshire course to the same point. Jockey Glen Haines is recovering rapidly from his recent fall and will return to the saddle Friday. The Rockingham Park horse colony was considerably swelled with the arrival of stables from many different points. Shipments from Syracuse included the stable of Len Carver with Rollick, Disruption and Consummation and the W. Shewbridge string of Washout, Barcelona Pete and Infilee. Our Nurse and My Betty, in charge of former jockey Willie McCabe, completed the Syracuse consignment. Frank Frisbie checked in from Maryland with Dark Vision and Hot Cake, which will carry his silks as well as the two-year-old Oakwood Belle, which will race in the interest of T. H. Sears. Paul Ratti purchased the contract on apprentice J. Lynch from Sheldon H. Fairbanks. The amount involved was not disclosed. A further shipment from Syracuse was unloaded at Rockingham Park Tuesday night It was made up of Night Vintage, Muskoday and Free Advice that race for R. Jackson. ; Curling and Miss Meritic, the property of Mrs. J. Lavrey. while L. Simon sent along Suspicious, Burleigh and Justa Sunbeam, in charge of trainer J. McTague. Paul Sanford unloaded Query, Moiras Chief, Aquarius and Twenty Three. The Rockingham Park Handicap, richest remaining stake of the present session, carrying an added value of ,500 and to be decided the closing day of the meeting, will close Saturday, July 21. The distance of the event is one mile and a sixteenth. One Chance, while being roped, struck himself, causing a cut that took several stitches to close, forcing his withdrawal from the sixth race Wednesday. The veteran colored rider Charlie Jackson arrived fro«i Charles Town, W. Va., and was granted a jockeys license. Memories of the late W. Hogan, who trained some of the foremost thoroughbreds in the country a few years ago, were brought to mind when Harvey Conn, associate timer at Rockingham Park, received a Tiffany split second stop watch which the late Mr. Hogan had bequeathed to him. Hogan, who passed away a few months ago, served in the timers stand at Rockingham Park last faU with Harvey Cohn.
