The latter, outrun for three-quarters, bettered his position on the outside and just failed to get up. MERRY CAROLINE made up ground after a half mile and was much the best of the others. NITTEN NANCY, far back in the early stages, lost ground improving her position and closed a gap in the stretch. RED RUN forced the pace under strong urging and tired in the drive. TIGHT WAD had no excuses. STYLE CORNER quit. BETTY WEE was unprepared at the start. Overweight — Nitten Nancy, 4 pounds ; Tight Wad, 1. Corrected weight — Tight Wad, 103.
