1 EMPIRE CITY TURF NOTES !f «► — $ A rumor was circulated around the track to the effect that kidnapers had marked Johnny Gilbert as a victim. Due to the fact that the Greentree Stable did not have a starter Wednesday afternoon, jockey S. Coucci decided to take a holiday and went window shopping on Fifth Avenue. Trainer H. J. "Dick" Thompson will ship the horses that he has at Belmont Park to Saratoga in the near future. Badge lists were distributed for the Saratoga meeting by Charles Cohen. Returning sightseers from Saratoga reported that the betting ring at the up-state track will be a revelation to the regulars and visitors; •
