[ TRAINER LLOYD GENTRY I j SUES FOR 00,000 ] TORONTO, Ont, July 18.— The differences between trainer Lloyd Gentry and the Incorporated Canadian Racing Associations may be aired in a civil court action, the legal firm of Rowell, Reid, Wright and McMillan, solicitors for Mr. Gentry, having issued a writ at Osgoode Hall claiming 00,-000 for libel. The writ names five directors of the Incorporated Canadian Racing Associations and two officials, namely, Albert E. Dyment, George M. Hendrie, John H. Madigin, William R. Woollatt, R. R. Simpson, David S. Gillies and Miss C. Casserly. That, because of a statement issued to the press by the Incorporated Canadian Racing Associations, he has been unable to follow his calling as trainer, is the charge made by Mr. Gentry, and the writ also asks for an injunction "restraining the defendants from further circulating and publishing the said statement or any other libels affecting the plaintiff in his trade or calling." The statement complained of was published following a meeting of the Incorporated Canadian Racing Associations on June 29, at Hamilton, where Mr. Gentry had gone for a hearing, which did not develop when his counsel, Ward Wright, K. C, was refused permission to be present with Mr. Gentry, and the latter withdrew. The officials named in the writ have ten days in which to respond to the charges made.
