NIAGARA FALLS INAVGURAL First Summer Meeting at Stamford Park Begins Today — Handicap Heads Attractive Program. NIAGARA FALLS, Ont... July 20— The first summer meeting, embracing the seven racing days between July 21 and July 28, will get under way today at the Stamford Park course of the Belleville Driving and Athletic Association at Niagara Falls. For weeks workmen under the guidance of track superintendent R. E. Cody have worked feverishly beautifying the grounds and perfecting the track until the plant now takes on an appearance of freshness that it has lacked heretofore. The grandstand and paddock and the rails circling the track have received their coat of paint. Alterations have improved the lay-out of the mutuel plant and restaurant. A public address system has been installed and the running of the races will be described to the visitors by Foster V. Dry-den. These descripitions will be broadcast over station CKTB at St. Catharines. Dryden has also arranged for a comment on racing over the same station in the evenings. Racing secretary John P. Turner has arranged an excellent card for opening day, headed by the Stamford Park Handicap, a gallop of a mile and a sixteenth for three-year-olds and over. The seven-race program bristles with the promise of keen contention in each of the events. Special train and bus service at reduced rates has been arranged from Toronto Hamilton and intermediate points. The mutuel department under the guidance of W. R. Crashley, has an efficient crew on hand to handle the wagering. The "Daily Double" will be on the first and third races and will be a speculation. Post time for the first race will be 2:45 p. m. daylight savings time. The list of officials headed by the recently elected W. L. Houck, M. P.
