MISS WISE, away well and hustled into a long lead in the first quarter, responded to hard urging in the stretch and held MAH GRANT safe. The latter, a factor from the start, went to the inside in the final three-sixteenths, but failed to wear down the winner. UPTODATE forced the pace and tired in the last eighth. HENRIERVA lost ground all the way. MERRY GO ROUND raced evenly. SHOELESS JOE failed to improve his position under pressure. ALMAC, fractious at the start, unseated his rider and was never a factor. COG AIR, outrun for three eighths, saved ground entering the stretch, was lucky to escape interference and won easily MAETICO, close up from the start and in close quarters in the stretch, moved up strongly when clear and outlasted RAMUS. The latter, hustled into the lead at once, gave way to LANIER near the stretch, but came again, only to tire in the drive. LANIER, strongly urged while forcing and making the pace, impeded PROUD PRINCESS in the stretch and quit. The latter was blocked when trying to reach the leaders. PHANTOM STAR had early speed. HEROS LADY moved up fast after leaving the back stretch, but failed to menace the winner. MAPLE HUSSY, slow to begin and outrun for a half mile, closed a big gap in the final eighth. SUN LURE forced the pace under strong urging and tired in the drive. SOUTH BEND, unprepared at the start, was rushed up in the first . three eighths and was eased up in the drive.
