PEACEFUL, in close quarters when crowded back oh the turn, came through a narrow opening entering the stretch, assumed command and drew out easily. THE CORNER, away well, had good early speed, but could not keep up with the winner while being hard urged. SIR ROLLIE, always a forward factor, held on well. Won handily; second and third driving. j SEA KALE, always within reach of the leaders, moved up stoutly in the stretch, wore down ARDAWN in the drive and was in hand at the finish. ARDAWN, away with the first flight, quickly disposed of GALANG to take command, saved ground thereafter, but could not withstand the bid of the winner. CUDGELDOE, rated behind the pace of the leaders, came to the outside in the stretch and finished stoutly. GALANG had good e.-.rlv speed, but tired. ROCHE DOR closed a big gap from a slow beginning. DARKSINI had speed from the beginning, was rated in front throughout, gave way to VIRADO in the stretch, but came again and just lasted. MODERN ACE, reserved from the early pace but within striking distance of the leaders, closed stoutly on the outside and just failed to get up. VIRADO, stoutly reserved for three-quarters, secured racing room on the inside to take a short lead in the stretch and just failed to last. EGAD lacked early speed, but made up some ground. SACHEM, always with the leaders and on the outside, closed stoutly through the stretch and was wearing down the winner nearing the finish. ANEROID had good early speed and hung on well, but was not good enough for the first two. KNIGHTS FANCY, slow to find her best speed, made up ground in the final quarter. BELLE FULLER, rated off the fast early pace, came to the outside of the leaders in the stretch and slowly wore them down. CALICO MISS displayed keen early speed while racing with ROMOLA in the lead, vfas given a brief respite at the .top of the stretch and came on again under punishment. BEECHVIEW, unable to match the early speed of the leaders, closed with a rush. ROMOLA had good early speed, took command on the turn, but had nothing left after CALICO MISS came on again and raced her into submission in the stretch. RIGHTFOOT lacked speed? BLACK STOCKINGS, fractious and breaking from the outside, was rated behind the early pace, moved up with a rush to take command on the iinal turn and wore down FRIAR CLIFF. The latter had good speed to go to the front in the run to the first turn, was rated in the lead thereafter, but could not withstand the challenge of the winner. DANCING BOY, held in restraint within reach of the leaders, did not respond when called upon. YELLOW METAL, closer up than usual in the early stages, closed well. CAPTIVE was never prominent.
