MAGGIE LOVE sprinted into command in the first quarter, withstood repeated challenges from PEPPER PRINCE, raced wide entering the stretch, drew clear in the final eighth and was in hand at the end. PEPPER PRINCE forced the pace from the beginning, closed gamely, but was unable to menace the winner. FORESIGHT, slow to settle into his best stride, came to the inside for the stretch run and closed a big gap. SMOKE RING, away fastest of all, had brief- early speed. AIR KING, slow to settle into his best stride, steadily improved his position on the outside in the first three-quarters, came to the inside for the stretch drive, wore down the leaders and was up in the final strides. VISIONARY HOUR dropped back soon after the start, moved up steadily thereafter, took"command entering the stretch, but tiredin the final eighth and just failed to last. HASOLA closed a big gap. LANADLER, well placed throughout, raced on the outside of the leaders, took command inside the last eighth, but had little left when the winner challenged. PENURIOUS, a forward factor throughout, had no mishaps. WILD LAUREL was away slowly and closed a big gap. IMAGALE made up ground. LAST STAND set the pace, but quit badly in the stretch run. WEDGE LASS forced the pace from the beginning, but tired when the real test came. DONNAGAY raced evenly. FREESTONE raced greenly. KEEN BABE was away slowly. JOGGLE raced greenly and was pulled up. The latter, outrun early, steadily improved his position and was going fast at the end. AIRWAY went evenly. BAIMWAWA showed a dull effort. . VITELLA had early- speed, but quit after three-quarters. WHITHARRAL raced evenly, met interference entering the stretch and could never menace the leaders. BUTTERFLY made up ground. FORCEFUL cut out the early pace, but quit badly in the stretch run.
