GEORGE began fast, lacked speed to maintain the lead, was kept well up under strong pressure and was racing gamely in the closing strides. EL CAJON, cleverly handled, was taken under mild reserve while racing close to the pace.raced in the middle of the track in the stretch, responded gamely to pressure and was up to win in the closing strides. GOOD MARY, away well, attained a clear lead early, continued with good courage, but submitted under severe punishment. LOVERS CHAT, slow to get going, was on the inside while gaining, but tired after reaching the leaders. JIMMIE L., fractious at the post, broke well, but was never dangerous. ELINE NIELSEN quit. IDLEWILD, forced back at the start, was again impeded sharply on the turn and outrun thereafter. KISSIE, fractious at the post, delayed the start, broke slowly and was outrun. TEAROUT dropped out of it early, gained rapidly after five-eighths, closed gamely, but was no threat for the first two. McCARTHY, away well, raced evenly and failed to gain under severe punishment.
