WOLVERINE HANDICAP TODAY mall but Well Matched Field to Start in Saturdays Feature Eyent at Detroit. DETROIT, Mich., May 24 A small field of seven, was named for the ,500 added Wolverine Handicap, that features the first Saturdays program at Detroit tomorrow. The one mile and a sixteenth event is well supported by seven other well-balanced races and the card is the best to date. Mrs. C. R. Cranes Ladfield, winner of the Inaugural Handicap is called upon to shoulder the top impost of 117 pounds in the Wolverine Handicap and the Lone Star Stables Rip Van Winkle comes next with 116 pounds. Cross Ruff, from the Tranquility Farm Stable drew the minimum allotment of ninety-three pounds, two less .than the Odessa Farm Stables Eddie J., which also represents the three-year-old ranks. A slight moderation in the weather today and a forecast for continued fair weather for the half-holiday should aid in attracting a near-record crowd. A section of the grandstand will be reserved each Saturday and the advance sale of this sector indicates that there will be a sell-out of these choice accommodations for tomorrow. Supporting the feature is the D. V. A. Poppy Drive Purse for sprinters. Eight were named for the six furlongs contest with the aging Gold Step assigned the top weight .v of 114 pounds. Rock X., under 112 pounds, Billy Bee, Gold Step, Elwawa, Cant Remember, Sir Ridgway, Fast Stride and Dancing Spirit complete the field. The field for the handicap in order of post positions, weights and probable jockeys, follow: PP. Horse. , Wt. Jockey. 1 Cross "Ruff 93 S. Hebert 2 Royal Leon ..107 ...J.
