MISS BALKO followed THE LAKE closely after getting her position and, coming to the outside of the leader in the stretch, gradually forged to the front to win under urging. THE LAKE dashed into a good lead soon after the start and held on fairly well. SWEET MYSTERY made up some ground in the stretch. GREEN TIMBER showed a fair turn of early speed. NASDEN raced wide. TRENT was unable to keep up and was never dangerous. PROUD GOLDIE was forced to pull up when in close quarters soon after the start. Overweight Lady Valorous, 1 pound. INSTIGATOR came around on the outside in -the stretch to finish well and was gaining on the winner. HELENE MADISON also closed gamely. CHILLA LEE was never far away and showed a fair effort.
