1 TANFORAN TURF NOTES s and Edwin Yager, nineteen-year-old saddle star from Covington, Ky., rode Wednesday for the last time with his apprentice allowance. He lost the "bug," or five-pound allowance. He is under contract to T. J. Pendergast of Kansas City, and is leading in the 00 Torley-Hickox jockey contest. Russell Sperry, who was the leading reins-man here last fall, became a full-fledged jockey Tuesday. He lost his apprentice allowance Monday. After holding an investigation, the stewards held that the accident Thursday, March 26, in. which The Way fell with jockey A. Siewert, was unavoidable.
