EXPECT BETTER CLASS HORSES Racing Secretary Bury Confident Omaha Is Destined to Stage Best Meeting in History. OMAHA, Neb., April 11. When the Ak-Sar-Ben meeting gets under way May 28, the most useful collection of runners in local history will be stabled here. Thats the prediction of Eugene W. Bury, racing secretary, after going over stable reservations made far in advance of the meeting. "We had a fine entry for our first meeting last year, but the 1936 nominations will be much better," secretary Bury said. With more useful horses named for the meeting, Bury is planning his condition book to allow more distance races. Seven hundred horses were stabled here in 1935, but this figure should be topped this season. As an added incentive to the jockeys, Ak-Sar-Ben officials have announced a rider contest. Top rider for the meeting will receive a gold watch, with a suit of clothes going to the second best rider. After coming here from the Oaklawn Park meeting at Hot Springs, Ark., secretary Bury remained only long enough to check reservations and then set out for a tour of Texas, , Kentucky and Illinois tracks to recruit more i stables for the Omaha meeting. Among early applicants for stable reservations are Glen Corbett, Hudson, 111.; Lester Tiffany, Waukegan; R. Carpenter, Los Angeles; Ross E. Cooper, Rancho, Calif.; Rummage and Miller, Dallas, Texas; T. F. Dever-eaux, Lexington, Ky., and George Pruett, , Los Angeles.
