KENTUCKY OAKS AS OLD j AS MORE FAMOUS DERBY 1 , I LOUISVILLE, Ky., April 11. The Kentucky Oaks, the fourth stake and final days feature of the Churchill Downs nineteen-day spring season, opening on April 25 and closing on May 16, has an excellent chance to prove the outstanding race among recent renewals of that fixture, which is as old as the Kentucky Derby. Exclusively for three-year-old fillies and endowed with a purse of ,000 in added money, this old prize which has been won by many of the greatest fillies of the past three score years will have its sixty-second running over a distance of nine furlongs. Probable starters include E. R. Bradleys Beanie M., C. B. Shaffers Albania and Erla, Charles T. Fishers Thatagal and Bren-dard, H. P. Headleys Sparta and Perline, R. A. Klebergs Split Second, Mrs. F. C. Mars Forever Yours, J. B. Respess Snow Fairy, George Clarks Kentucky Blues, E. D. Shaffers Floradora, P. A. and R. J. Nashs Sandstone and Miss Twinkle, W. E. Smiths High Girl, C. R. Thompsons Mary Terry, A. G. Vanderbilts Parade Girl, T. C. Wordens Southern Belle, C. V. Whitneys Two Bob, A. Pelleteris Spur Flower, Mrs. Payne Whitneys Night Mare and Torita, Bohn and Mar-keys Lovely Girl, and William Woodwards Valse. Closing on February 10, the Kentucky Oaks received fifty-six nominations, the list being not only larger, but more representative than in several years. Last years renewal, which carried only half as much added money, went to I. J. Collins Paradisical, while other winners since 1920, when the distance was increased from a mile and a sixteenth, were Lorraine, Nancy Lee, Startle, Untidy, Princess Do-reen, Deeming, Black Maria, Mary Jane, Easter Stockings, Rose of Sharon, Alci-biades, Cousin Jo, Suntica, Barn Swallow and Fiji, these in order of winning from 1920 to 1934, inclusive.
