j ARLINGTON DOWNS NOTES j $ $ Harold Simmons stated Saturday morning that he sold Tornillo to Ralph Lovett and that he was desirous of disposing of his other horses. Simmons has been offered the position of trainer for a leading racing stable, but before he can close with the owner he must sell off his own horses. William Causey, trainer of the Mayfield Stable, was able to resume the training of his horses Saturday. Causey has been confined to his apartment for several days suffering with an attack of flu. Whitey Price, agent for Clarence Davison, also has recovered from an attack of flu. Ross Higdon is sending Unatime to Paul Fred Farm, where she will be mated to Sweeping Light. Upon advice of his physician, apprentice H. Caperton, who was badly bruised when he was tossed from Michigan Lad in the eighth race Friday, canceled his engagements Saturday, but he plans to resume riding Monday. Trainer Watt Seamster stated that he will have the firing irons applied to Brown Hilda and Broadstep. Brown Hilda was recently claimed by F. A. Griffith. Marion Allen, who has been on the ailing list for several days, was able to resume the training of his horses Saturday. Due to being placed on the outside of the Bahr gate for their engagements Wednesday, Lo and Bostonian Gal were added to the barred list However, if they are schooled properly they may be given another opportunity of starting before the close of the meeting. Anthony Pelleteri, who is fast improving from the injuries he received when Polish Beau crashed into the pony he was riding last week, has seventeen horses quartered at Douglas Park, Louisville, Ky. He is sending the twenty-two head he has here to Churchill Downs, at the close of this season, and thirty-nine head will be assembled for a campaign on the Chicago tracks. Word was received that apprentice Joe Tinker had entered the employ of J. B. Respess and will remain in Kentucky until the opening of the Churchill Downs meeting.
