OUR MAJOR, under urging while holding to a forward position, gained a slight lead after straightening out in the stretch and, hard ridden, held DUSKY MISS. The latter moved up fast on the outside leaving the back stretch, came out into the better going and closed with a rush. WHITTLE went well up all the way and continued with good energy to the close. YETIYE. hard hustled to get to the front, made a bold attempt to keep pace, but faltered in the closing drive. LITTLE PAULA went evenly after leaving the stalls alertly. SILYER PALM forced the pace of ADDIS ABABA until reaching the stretch, wore down Ue latter when called upon and drew clear in the last sixteenth. ADDIS ABABA displayed good speed all the way and, despite being placed under pressure, was unable to cope with the winners bid. FORTUITY, well up and on the outside, came wide into the stretch and closed strongly. JEANNE FETZKO was well placed and was going stoutly on the inside at the end. LADY MILLY tired. HURTLE, away slowly, was never prominent. LITTLE AUDREY was slow to leave the stalls. Overweight — Little Audrey, 3j pounds. THIRD RACE 3-4 MILE Out of Chute. RED ROAMER was permitted to settle into his stride and was not hurried in the run through the back stretch, moved up on the outside midway of the turn, came to the outside of the leaders in the stretch and closed with good energy and was drawing out all the last fifty yards. ZULU LAD had speed from the start, met determined early opposition from EVANGELIST, disposed of him, opened up a good lead and. despite holdine on gamely, was not good enough. LONGFORD was under restraint for the first three-eighths and closed willinelv. UNLAWFUL was well up. SCOTCH QUEEN bore in throueh the last eighth, forcing BETTY SHAW to "take up. BRFNNAN was sent up fast nearing the far turn, was forced to take up in the jam that occurred leaving the back stretch, recoveud gamely and was wearing down MISS SUBWAY and drew out as if much the best. MISS SUBWAY disposed of MADERIS for the lead and held on stoutly to the finish. VIRBET encountered some trouble and held on gamely in the drive. SWIFT QUEEN was forced to take up after going the first quarter mile, came to the outside in the stretch and closed with good energy. MOVIE LASS went well placed. TOANO faltered in the last five sixteenths. MADERIS quit badly after showing eood early speed. MINT DF MIE trailed far bark for most of the trip.
