JAMAICA TURF NOTES s £ Ogden Phipps White Cockade will likely be shipped from Aqueduct to Pimlico to start in the Preakness. M. L. Schwartz Bold Venture arrived at Belmont Park from Louisville late Monday afternoon. The colt shipped well and, barring a few skin bruises, was in good condition. The Derby winner will be kept at Belmont Park and then shipped to Pimlico to fulfill his engagement in the Preakness. Trainer Hirsch will be forced to secure the services of a jockey, due to the suspension of Ira Hanford. Hirsch stated that his charge was in perfect condition and would after his Preakness race be reserved for the Belmont, in which race he will meet Brevity, Red Rain and others. Merry Pete, owned by the Belair Stud, will be transferred from Pimlico to New York. The colt will not be started in the Preakness. Frank Shannon was an absentee from the lawn Tuesday and may have to undergo an operation within the next week. A. G. Vanderbilts Good Harvest is intended as a starter in the Excelsior Handicap. Jockey J. Bejshak will do the riding. Bill Karrick returned from Miami, where he spent the winter. Hart Dernham was a belated arrival from Florida. Max Hirsch made his first appearance since his return from Louisville when he saddled Arguefication in the second race Tuesday. After the running of the third race Tues* day, Morton L. Schwartz Observant was brought out by Max Hirsch and breezed an easy mile in 1:55%.
