i NARRAGANSETT PARK NOTES | Tommy Luther checked in Tuesday morning from his home at Saratoga, N. Y. He and his former employer, Frank Carreaud, have reached an amicable parting of the ways and Tommy has attached himself to the stable of Joe Valli. Meanwhile Carreaud will continue the development of his new apprentice, E. Tucker, the 16-year-old boy who has ridden sixteen winners since winning his first race in Texas. Charles Kurtsinger arrived Tuesday morning to ride Tommy Taylors gray filly Planetoid in the Jeanne dArc filly stakes Wednesday. Charlie may stay for the remainder of the meeting. Tom Thorp has made a great hit with the sporting clans of Rhode Island and is being swamped with social invitations, from folks who probably have never heard of Toms prodigious appetite. Thorp speaks before a gathering of the American Legion at the Novelty Park Club in Pawtucket, Wednesday evening. The veteran turfman, Phil T. Chinn, reached Narragansett Park, Tuesday night, from Louisville, Ky., with sixteen head, eleven of his own string, four owned by Bill Gallagher and one belonging to Paul Codd. In Chinns string is the promising juvenile Major Bowes. Mr. Chinn rejected an offer of 5,000 for this two-year-old, which will be seen racing at Narragansett shortly. W. S. Short is training Chinns horses. Charlie Rosengarten has decided to remain at Narragansett Park for the entire spring meeting. He is free lancing at present, but is considering several offers. He can ride at 103 pounds. George Door will make his engagements.
