- LOUD SPEAKERS AT BELMONT JAMAICA, N. Y., May 5.— Loud speakers will be used to assist Belmont race goers in locating horses in races down the Widener course at the meeting which opens next Monday, May 11. The decision was made after a telephonic conference between J. E. Widener at Elmen-dorf Farm, Ky., and C. V. Whitney at New York. Engineers today will begin the installation of four amplifiers in the grandstand while another may be heard by the patrons of the turf and field club and the enclosure. An announcer will be stationed in a conning tower near the intersection of the main track and the straightaway from which vantage points will be possible to describe post maneuvers and the early running. As the fields sweep toward the stands another microphonist, stationed beside the stewards, atop the grandstand will place them as they j pass the quarter post. The project is experimental, designed to please the public and | an effort to banish the objection that has | been voiced against straightaway contests at the American turf headquarters,
