1 CHURCHILL DOWNS NOTES j $ 1 Stables trained by H. Mcllvain and William Westerfield have taken up quarters at Churchill Downs. Previously they were at Douglas Park. Grover Hughes, with the three-year-old Broadwood and the juveniles Sandora and Flying On, is another recent arrival at the Downs. Flying On, a son of Hustle On and The Vixen, is one of the best looking youngsters here. T. C. Worden acquired the four-year-old filly Athanette from William Montgomery and will retire her for breeding purposes. She goes to the Jones Stock Farm in Missouri. Herbert M. Woolf has returned to his home in Kansas City, after spending a week here. Mr. and Mrs. George Ross returned to their home in Chicago. Mrs. Ross is the former Mary Nash, daughter of Patrick A. Nash, Illinois political figure and part owner of the Shandon Farm and racing stables. The Ross nuptials took place on February 1. Following two days at Shandon Farm, near Lexington, Nash returned for Tuesdays Downs racing. Jockey Leon "Buddy" Haas, who was suspended for five days for rough riding, will return to action Wednesday. His suspension expired Tuesday. Dan Morris, former trainer of a division of the late Wood F. Axton stable, arrived from Lexington and plans on remaining for several days. He expects to acquire several horses for a New England campaign. Judge C. W. Hay, general manager of the Hawthorne track, stopped off for the days racing en route to Chicago, from his Scotland Farm near Frankfort. Judge Hay expects to return here for Saturdays program.
