I OMAHA TURF NOTES Jockey Eddie Phillips, who recently lost his apprentice allowance, was an arrival from California. Howard "Rusty" Brundage was an arrival from California with the three horses of Sylvia Urban of Los Angeles. "Buddy" Glass, former old-time saddle star, has charge of the jockeys quarters at Ak-Sar-Ben Field. J. P. "Red McGovern passed through Omaha Monday en route to Detroit. He will race Dignified, Bonynge and Merely in the Motor City. Joe Walters, well-known western docker, was an arrival from San Francisco. Walters motored through with his family. George Burns, who rode Indian Broom to third place in the Kentucky Derby, will perform at Omaha, after which he will go to the Northwest to report to the stable of Major Austin C. Taylor.. Amos Wallin got in with Amazing, Seventh Heaven, Mokena, Wind Over, Count On Me, Santa Julia, Booterstown, Thankey, Lotus Flower and Saxover. Wallin also brought Foolhardy for E. J. Neal. Mile races will be given at Ak-Sar-Ben field this season. A runway to the center field for the moving of the starting gate has been finished and the popular "once around" events will be a feature of the daily programs. Apprentice C. Shultz, who led the jockeys at Bay Meadows, arrived with the stable of Lon Copenhaver. The latter has turned down several handsome offers for the boys con-Martin Nathanson, presiding steward at Omaha, is serving in the stand at Ak-Sar-Ben field for the first time in a number of years. Nathanson was steward at the track 1 about ten years ago.
