Won driving; second and third the same. BE JUST, away in the first flight, took command after shaking off JOHNNY BANE, drew clear and was hard ridden at the end to hold SCOTCH QUEEN safe. The latter, steadied along until leaving the back stretch, moved up on the outside,- saved ground in the stretch and closed willingly on the inside. MEROVECH, slow to begin, improved his position steadily in the last three-eighths and came determinedly through the stretch. PRINCE DANNY made up some ground. PARVA STELLA, under urging while kept within striking distance of the early pace, tired in the stretch run. BEDIGHT broke slower than usual, moved up fast, but was unable to keep pace in the last quarter mile. JOHNNY BANE quit badly after showing early speed. Won ridden out; second and third driving. NO DICE, under steady restraint from the start, was slightly urged after going a quarter mile and greatly benefited at the stretch turn when the leaders went exceptionally wide, drew out through the last eighth. BERGERE moved up gradually leaving the back stretch and closed with good energy through the stretch. MR. BLAZE displayed good speed chasing in closest pursuit of the pacemaker, lost ground at the stretch turn and closed with good courage when straightened out. SUN CAPTURE showed good, speed, was going "strongly in the lead when he bore out almost to the outside, then came again when straightened out. DROWSY made up some ground, but was never a threat. JACKFULL had speed from the start, withstood determined early opposition from GOOD OMEN, drew clear and gamely fought off determined bids from HIATUS and outlasted the latter at the end. HIATUS, under pressure from the start, moved up boldly when called upon, made a game effort to get to the front, but was nut good enough. GOOD OMEN was in the first flight throughout and fought it out determinedly. MY BLONDE, well placed and reserved early, saved ground at the stretch turn, but was unable to improve her position through the stretch run. SWAP, in close quarters early, moved up stoutly when called upon and closed a big gap. BERNARDINE W. had early speed. SUN TEATIME was never a threat. BROAD MEADOWS could never reach contention. SYLVIA G. moved up on the inside, fought it out courageously, but was unable to overtake the winner. HIGH TREASON raced to the front in the opening sixteenth, drew clear and, rated along in front,, was unable to keep pace with the First two when challenged. PANICLE, outrun early, closed a big gap. SWIFr QUEEN was unable to reach the leaders, but was well placed for the first half mile. FORCED LANDING unseated his rider at the post. 4 Overweight High Treason, 4 pounds. FIFTH RACE 1 MILE. PARTY SPIRIT, under slight restraint early, responded gamely when called upon and appeared to have been up in time. BOBS BOYS avoided, the fast early pace and came gamely at the end. GAY EDWARD loomed up menacingly nearing the stretch, but was unable to keep pace in the closing drive. BILL FARNSWORTH displayed good speed, met determined opposition from GLEEMAN, surrendered the command briefly, and regained it, then drew clear, only to tire through the stretch. GLEEMAN quit badly in the last quarter mile. SOBRIETY, hard ridden to reach the leaders, quit badly. SWAMP ANGEL lost his rider in the run to the first turn. GUARDIAN took command in the run to the first turn, was rated along under steadying restraint, but was unable to cope with Uie closing challenge of the winner. RED ROAMER moved up leaving the back stretch, though unable to improve his position in the last quarter mile. LONG BIT was well up, though unable to improve her position in the closing test. GOLDEN WORDS was never a threat. JAMUL tired after going a half mile.
