CAMERA DECISION SURPRISES Party Spirit Apparent Winner Film Shows Gelding Third. Faust Awarded Purse at Rockingham, With Gallant Gay Second Glceman Days Disapp ointment. SALEM, N. H., May 27. A. G. Tarns Faust was given the decision by the camera in the New Hampshire Handicap, ,000 added three-year-old event, which headlined todays sport at Rockingham Park but the placing came as a surprise to the crowd and those in the press box. The race reporters were practically unanimous in calling Party Spirit the winner by at least a head. However, the photograph had the A. McDonnell campaigner placed third with W. W. Adams Gallant Gay second. All of the placed horses were long shots, so there was no great commotion over the decision. There were few who did not believe Party Spirit was the winner, none who thought he was as far back as third. The race brought fifteen three-year-olds to the post and was a rough and tumble affair. There was a jam on the turn that eliminated several of the better favored horses and resulted in jockey M. Greer being tossed from his saddle. The boy was net injured. Gleeman, from the J. H. Whitney stable, was the choice and had no excuses. He got off well, was second at the turn and was leading at the half. He simply quit to wind up ninth. Little Nymph began fastest but Bill Farns-worth soon overhauled her and took the lead with Gleeman after him. Sobriety was third, with Party Spirit within striking distance and Faust nowhere as they charged into the back stretch. It was Gleeman and Bill Farnsworth all the way down the back stretch. Party Spirit was moving up at this stage and as they hit the turn the two leaders tired. As they turned for home Gay Edward moved up and took a brief lead. Party Spirit was right after him, followed by Gallant Gay, and Faust charged up from nowhere as they entered the stretch, and down the stretch the placed horses staged a thrilling three-cornered battle. It is hard to write of the finish except as it appeared. It seemed that Party Spirit outgamed the others, got home by a neck or a good head over Faust, with Gallant Gay a nose back. However, the camera showed otherwise. The horse went in 1:41 over a track made sloppy by a hard rain after the first race. :
