Won easily: second and third driving. NIGHT BUD dropped back after the break, but improved his position steadily, came to the outside in the final eighth, wore down the leaders and drew away. DUEL, slow to begin, improved his position steadily, made a determined bid in the stretch, but faltered at the end. VAMOOSE was close up in the early stages, stood off determined opposition from EXHIBITOR and then faltered under pressure. BAKERSTOWN showed a good effort throughout. BUSHRANGER handled his weight well under steadying restraint, made a bad landing at the sixth fence, but recovered quickly, moved into command the final turn of the field and had something in reserve at the end. RIOTER jumped well and, under restraint until the final turn of the field, made a determined bid when called upon, but was not good cnoueh. AMAGANSETT showed speed from the start, jumped well all the way, but faltered at the" end. BIRMINGHAM was weakly ridden in the running. JUNGLE KING lost his rider at the thirteenth fence. VICTORIOUS ANN forced the pace from the start, was carried wide by MARCHING HOME rounding the stretch turn, responded to urging in the final eighth and outlasted FORTIFICATION in the final strides. The latter was taken under restraint when outrun, was guided to the outside of the leaders rounding the stretch turn and finished with a belated rush. MARCHING HOME showed early speed, but bore out rounding the stretch and then hung in the final drive. PRETTY NIGHT dropped back after the start and made up some ground under urging. POMPOON was blocked in the early running and was boxed in, but his rider found an opening and, guided to the outside, responded to urging when called upon and drew away, winning with speed in reserve. PRIVILEGED was hard ridden to overcome interference, responded gamely and closed with determination on the inside. FLYING CROSS, outrun in the early part, was placed under pressure and finished well. SIR DAMION showed early speed, but was bearing over toward the outside all through the final half mile and bothering the leaders. DOGAWAY worked his w-ay up steadily on the inside and dosed with good courage. FLYING SCOT showed an even effort. DAWN PLAY had no mishaps. OPTIC was in close quarters the first eiehth and rould not get clear. TATTERED showed an even effort. CHARING CROSS quit under urging. BILLIONAIRE faltered under urging. MELODIST had no mishaps. The latter, a forward factor from the start, moved into command rounding the stretch turn, responded when called upon to stall off BOOTMAKER, but then hung in the final sixteenth. CRYSTAL PRINCE, close up in the early stages, dropped back rounding the far turn, came wide entering the stretch and finished with a belated rush. THORSON was rushed into command after the break, was rated along steadily, but faltered badly in the stretch run. GEAN CANACH was outrun the first part and made up ground over tired horses. WHIZZAWAY had no excuse. Overweight Whizzaway, 1 pound.
