SPORTSMANS MEETING NEAR Scene Shifts to Cicero Track Week From Monday Futurity Eye in Process of Erection. With six more days of the sport scheduled for Lincoln Fields, the racing front shifts to Sportsmans Park one week from Monday where, on that day the National Jockey Club inaugurates its eighteen-day meeting which marks the end of the season in Illinois. "Prospects for a successful season are exceedingly bright," said Edward J. OHara, president of the National Jockey Club, who pointed out that Sportsmans Park will have more and better horses than has been its good forturji in several years. "All we need is a fair share of good weather and we will have nothing to complain of," he declared. Preparations for the opening of the meeting will receive added impetus with the arrival tomorrow morning of Robert S. Shelley, general manager and racing secretary. He comes in from Toronto and will remain for the duration of the meeting, which ends Saturday, October 31. Shelley has written a set of racing conditions particularly attractive to horsemen and the ensuing contests should be just as attractive to patrons. A tower to house camera equipment for photographing close finishes is in the process of construction and is expected to be completed about the middle of next week. The camera to be used is known as the "Futurity Eye," similar to the one used at Belmont Park. Meanwhile Robert McAuliffe and Thomas Steele have been busy all week accepting registrations and allotting stalls. They estimate more than 1,000 horses will be available for the Sportsmans Park meeting.
