T HIGH FINANCE, away fastest, was steadied along when outrun, though never far from the pace at any time, swung to the outside in the stretch, wore down the leaders and was hard ridden to outlast IRISH HERO. The latter, forced to work his way through the field, found an opening on the inside entering the stretch and closed with a rush. LOTTA RUN had speed from the start, only to tire slightly in the closing drive. PHRIXUS was unable to keep pace early, then made up some ground. EDRI was well up from the start, but tired in the final quarter mile. PROSECUTOR was prominent early, but was unable to keep up in the closing drive. INA DEAR was under hustling tactics in an effort to reach the leaders and faltered in the last three-eighths. CHERRY CAN had speed from the start, was steadied along back of the pace and caught the pacemaker tiring in the stretch, then moved to the lead and had to be vigorously ridden to hold OSMUCK safe. The latter, away slowly, was forced to work his way up gradually and, losing ground while improving his position, closed in determined fashion. HI-SUGAR had good speed, drew clear in the opening eighth, increased his advantage rounding the turn, but gave way in the last eighth. MY GOODNESS was hard ridden throughout to maintain a prominent position. GAYETTE was unable to make up any ground. RIELTHING was never a threat. MATCH PLAY was prominently placed throughout, was much used in racing with LADY HOCKBERGER and was unable to cope with the closing challenge of the first two. LADY HOCKBERGER, prominent for three-quarters, faltered in the closing drive. CLAIMANT, well up all the way, tired slightly in the closing drive. GAY CREST was unable to reach the leaders. HIGH MONGUL loomed up menacingly nearing the far turn, only to falter in the last five-sixteenths. SUN TEATIME quit badly. MARMARA, under steadying restraint while in near pursuit of the leaders, showed in front briefly, but was unable to maintain his advantage under hard urging. FICKLE CHANCE was well placed in the run through the back stretch, but was unable to keep up in the closing drive. DOROTHY B., a trailer for the first half mile, closed some ground through the stretch. GREAT HASTE was never prominent. BLACK HIGHBROW was unable to reach the leaders. HOWARD was far back for the first five-eighths, began moving up on the outside after rounding the far turn, closed with a rush through the stretch and got up in the concluding stride. GALLANT GAY was well placed the entire trip, took command before reaching the stretch and, despite holding on willingly, was unable to cope with the closing bid of the winner. BEEFSTEAK, prominent all the way, disposed of CHANCING and held on well to the close, coming again near the end. WATERSPLASH was hemmed in on the rail after straightening out in the stretch. MOUNTAINY MAN was unable to threaten the leaders. TUGBOAT FRANK, a trailer early and far back until reaching the stretch, passed tiring horses. ACCOLADE suffered sharp interference at the start when MOUNTAINY MAN broke into him, then moved up briefly on the outside through the back stretch, only to retire steadily in the last half mile.
