PRINTEMPS, under early restraint, moved up fast on the inside on the lower turn, swung extremely wide entering the stretch, came on again when straightened out and outlasted HABANERO. The latter, far back early, moved up steadily on the inside, finished gamely, but was not good enough. POMPOHONE, sent into the lead at the first turn, was rated along in front for three-quarters, raced wide entering the stretch and was tiring at the end. DEVILISH NICK moved into contention on the outside during the run through the back stretch, was carried wide by the leaders entering the stretch and tired in the final eighth. STAR ROYAL raced well for three-quarters. SCARP was always far back. VALISE quit. Overweight Habanero, 5 pounds; Devilish Nick, 1; Valise, 2. EIGHTH RACE 1 1-8 MILES. Winged Wind. ORKIN, racing as if best, was rated close to the pace, moved up fast when called upon, wore down HAGGERSON entering the stretch and, drawing away, won with speed to spare. SCIMrTAR lacked early speed, responded gamely when called upon and finished well. CUT PRICE, under early restraint, worked his way up between horses and was going well at the end. GORON, allowed to drop far back in the first half mile, finished well in the final eighth. EXCEED was outrun. HAGGERSON quit badly in the last eighth. CLOIDO quit badly. Scratched 34235 Java Ho, 112.
