BLIND BROOK, rated close to the leaders for the first three-quarters and kept on the outside, moved to the lead in the final eighth under severe urging and. continuing gamely, drew out slowly at the close. PORTDEN, kept on the inside from the beginning, tired after being straightened into the stretch. YENRAC was hard ridden to reach the front going to the first turn, was steadied until challenged, but was unable to stay. MINTON could not threaten at any part of the trip. RIDEAWAY raced on the outside of his field from the beginning, made several moves and came determinedly in the closing stages. HURRY HARRY was used up making several bids and tired badly in the last half mile. SPINACH was steadied to all of his fences, jumped well, but tired. MARTINIOUS was never a factor. MORNING, following within striking distance of the pacemaker for the first three-quarters, responded stoutly when placed to a drive, wore down OCEAN ROLL inside the final eighth and came out slowly at the close. OCEAN ROLL was punished to reach the front going to the first turn, moved clear, but tired in the last quarter mile after saving much ground. UNEASY raced well placed and came gamely under severe pressure. SIAM lacked speed to hold a contending position and could not threaten when shaken up. Start good and slow. Won handily: second and third driving. TRIPLE ACTION, slower than usual to gain his stride, entered into a forward position when leaving the back stretch, swung to the outside when moving to the leaders, took command in the last eighth and, kept under pressure, drew out in the late stages. THE SCHEMER worked his way up stoutly after being slow to settle into his stride and finished full of run. ROUGH TIME was used up racing with GAY BALKO in the first five-eighths and tired in the last quarter mile. GAY BALKO was hard rushed after getting to the front and had little left after racing head and head with ROUGH TIME. BOULEVARD raced evenly. IRREPRESSIBLE had no mishaps. FLEETING MOON was out in the good footing and was held safe. KOYAL RANK lacked speed and could not menace. MR. DUNCANNON did not favor the footing. Won driving; second and third the same. : FAIR KNIGHTESS assumed command when moving around ROMAN SOLDIER and BILLY BEE entenn; the back stretch, was rated nicely while saving ground, rallied to a strong hand ride approaching the finish and, holding on with rare courage, barely lasted to stall off DARK HOPE. The latter dwelt slightly when the start came, worked his way to the leaders gradually, responded to punishment and fought it out resolutely rearing the end. ROMAN SOLDIER dropped back gradually after clearing the first turn, was placed to severe punishment and closed with belated speed. BILLY BEE was under urging from the start and had no excuses. MAERIEL slipped through on the inside to take command at the stretch turn and fought it out strongly. FLORADORA was rated close up and continued strongly while finish, ing in tight quarters between the first two. MUST BE was used up racing with MOON SIDE. THIRTEEN STARS, much closer than usual in the early running, flattened out when the real test came. MASKED QUEEN was away very slowly and did not fancv the footing.
