FINAL NEW YORK MEETING Empire City Opens Monday With New Rochelle Handicap as Chief Attraction. NEW YORK, N. Y., Oct. 17. The final New York race meeting of 1936- begins at Empire City Monday. With the conclusion of that meeting only the one day of sport remains, to be conducted by the United Hunts Association at Belmont Park on November 3. The special opening feature for the racing at the Hill Top track is the New Rochelle Handicap, a dash of five and three-quarters furlongs, to which ,500 is added. Seven have accepted the weights and they comprise the best sprinters in competition. The list is topped by G. D. Wideners Sation, under a burden of 128 pounds. This swift running son of Galetian has been sharpening up for his return to the races and is sure to give a good account of himself. Victor Emanuels consistent High Time mare, Miss Merriment, is in under 124 pounds and she is always calculated to keep Sation busy over such a route. John Simo-nettis Sgt Byrne, back to his best form and a recent winner at Jamaica, is in nicely under 114 pounds and Hirsch Jacobs will saddle a team in Microphone and the consistent mare. Jesting. The other two that complete this remarkably good field are Stubbs and Exhibit Four of the six events are under claiming conditions and the remaining number is a five and a half furlongs test for the maiden juvenile fillies. Each race is nicely filled and evenly balanced until it seems assured the new season will begin more auspiciously than any that have gone before at James .Butlers popular racing grounds.
