I DUFFERIN PARK TURF NOTES and Anthony Hints, clerk of the scales, reports that there, are thirty riders available for the Dufferin Park meeting, with the majority of the pilots which took part in the Long Branch meeting on hand and a few additions which arrived from Montreal. Bert McDonald, veteran trainer, underwent a serious operation in the Toronto General Hospital Saturday morning and his condition is reported favorable. During the Dufferin Park meeting a contest between the riders will be held, with the winner receiving a valuable wrist watch. The contest will be decided upon the point basis, with three points for a winner, two for second and one for third. In the case of a tie at the end of the meeting, 0 in cash will be equally divided. The watch is a gift of the Presto Lite Storage Battery Company and the contest will be run under the supervision of William H. Graff. Word was received from Pat Horgan, racing secretary at Narragansett Park, of a possible shortage of riders for that meeting and that any of the local pilots wishing to ride there will be welcomed. P. G. Demetri, managing director of the Belleville Driving and Athletic Association, accompanied by secretary Norman McCal-lum and mutuel manager Frank Carter, inspected Stamford Park, Thursday morning. Mr. Demetri has in view many improvements for next season, among which will be an up-to-date clubhouse.
