POMPOON WORKS MILE IN 1 :40 THROUGH MUD LAUREL, Md., Oct 17. Jerome H. Louch-heims Pompoon, leading money winner in the two-year-old brigade this season, was worked publicly between the third and fourth races at Laurel on Saturday. Over a track fetlock deep in mud he worked a mile in 1:40, a smart trial considering the condition of the racing surface. The early fractions for the work were recorded as follows: Quarter in :23?3, half in :47?s and six furlongs in 1:13.
