f EPSOM DOWNS TURF NOTES X $ J. B. Haidwick purchased the promising two-year-old Epitome from C. E. Mickens for a private consideration. The juvenile made his first start of the Epsom Downs meeting in the Gulf Handicap Friday and came through with a creditable performance. J. G. McGowan, representative of the Railway Express Company, was an arrival from Kansas City, Mo., and assumed charge of making the arrangements for the shipment of horses to various points from Epsom Downs. Assistant starters Bill Dickerson and John Toomey left Saturday night for Arlington Downs where they will report to starter Roy Dickerson to assist in the schooling of the horses at the Waggoner track. Val Sulich who has done an excellent job of starting at Epsom Downs, despite the fact that it was his first position in the stand, will serve as one of Roy DIckersons assistants at Arlington Downs. Tommy Hunt registered the plater Lady Laura with secretary Tom J. Brown, and the racer will perform in the interest of Mrs. T. Hunt at- Epsom Downs.
