R. P. CARMAN, SR., DIES LOS ANGELES, Calif., March 31. Richard F. Carman, Sr., owner, trainer and breeder of thoroughbreds, died here yesterday of complications following blood poisoning. Attending the races at Santa Anita re-cenly, he injured his foot Blood poisoning developed. The deceased raced many horses over a long period of years. In 1911 Meridian carried his colors to victory in the Kentucky Derby. Fire destroyed his breeding farm at Silver Springs, Md., several years ago.
