t TANFORAN TURF NOTES f 6 6 Horses were schooled at Bay Meadows, Wednesday morning, with Noel Chilcutt, one of starter Eddie Thomas assistants in command. Haoul Walshs French star, Grand Mani-tou, and his English three-year-old Sunset Trail II., are expected daily from Santa Anita. Grand Manitou is a nominee for the 0,000 added Marchbank Handicap, April 17, while Sunset Trail II. goes Saturday in the Tanforan three-year-old championship. Sir Oracle and Patty Cake, ace three-year-olds in the N. W. Church stable, were sent seven-eighths over a slow track at Tanforan, Wednesday morning, in a prep for the ,000 added Tanforan three-year-old championship Saturday at ono and one-sixteenth miles. They breezed along in 1:30. Jockey Noel Richardson, a veteran saddle star, has been engaged to ride Maj. A. J. Taylors Indian Broom in the 0,000 added Marchbank Handicap, April 17. The Taylor stable likewise has a call on him in the ,000 added Exposition Handicap, April 10. It is probable that he will be astride Special Agent in the Exposition. Trainer Ross Cooper has taken a call on jockey Ralph Neves for the remainder of the Tanforan meeting and also at Bay Meadows. Neves, now under suspension, will be avail- able Tuesday. , F. A. Carreauds improving three-year-old Bakerstown, is coming along in nice fashion in his prep for the ,000 added Tanforan , three-year-old championship Saturday, ac- cording to trainer Ted Horning. Bakerstown has put on a little weight since his Santa Anita campaign and looks in fine shape. High Tension, one-time handicap performer, is back in training again after a long lay-off. He was sent a slow half in :52 Tuesday morning. Rushaway, "triple Derby winner," in the stable of As G. Tarn, has been freshened up a little and will begin prepping seriously Saturday for the 0,000 added Marchbank Handicap, April 17. He will be sent a half and will come back the following Wednesday for a mile work. Pete McLean, 17-year-old novice rider under contract to Charles W. Shaw, Jr., was granted a jockeys license Tuesday by the stewards. He will be seen in silks within a few days. Sobriety, hope of the Hunt, Beezley and Boeing Stable in the Marchbank Handicap, went three-eighths in :36 Tuesday morning. Merry Caroline, owned by Paul Kelley, pulled up sore following a workout and will be on the shelf for some time.
