AMQUI, away well and going close to the leaders early, wore down CHANCE QUEEN when straightened into the stretch, continued stoutly and came out steadily under pressure. TIANA, slow to settle into her stride, worked her way up stoutly in the last half mile and finished strongly on the outside. BRISTLE, forced to race on the outside from the beginning, closed gamely in the final issue. CHANCE QUEEN showed good speed while setting the pace, but tired badly in the final eighth. BURNING BILLOWS raced in tight quarters on the inside most of the journey. M. J. BRENNAN lacked speed and could not threaten. GO QUICKLY tired early. BUCKLEYS PRIDE raced strongly for five-eighths, then tired; he lost his stride directly after the finish and unseated his rider. TRIANON was done after a half mile. DAY DAWN, going strongly to force a fast pace, displaced LOYAL SON when nearing the stretch, bore out after getting to the front, but continued stoutly to withstand TWOSOME. The latter, kept on the outside of the leaders, finished courageously in the final drive. HORNET closed stoutly after saving ground in the late stages. ROMNEY ROYAL was close up while handling his weight well, then tired in the final issue. MARINELLA, away slowly, was taken wide all the way. LOYAL SON quit badly. BONNIE MAID raced in dull fashion. PLAYFUL JEST, pinched back soon after the break, closed with a belated rush. GREY FLASH displayed good speed for three-eighths, then tired. CROIX DE TOUR was never a factor. SHRED displayed good speed from the beginning and hell on with good courage under punishment. MY PAULINE was stoutly ridden and held on well. JACQUELINE M. was carried extremely wide entering the stretch, only for which she would have been much closer. ARACHNE and MOONS MISSION were unable to improve their positions. NAD raced strongly under improved handling and fought it out gamely after wearing down RAINLAND. The latter showed good speed while setting the pace, shook off IDLE MIDGET and held on well. TONIANNA came again in the final stages. DEBATE secured racing room on the inside all the way and held on gamely to the close. IDLE MIDGET stumbled when the break came, was sent up fast to force the early pace, but tired badly under punishment. DAYTONIAN had no mishaps. Scratched 39516 Yctive, 100; 39630sPageboy. 105. MYSTIC FLYER bettered his position on the outside and finished gamely, although he was unable to gain on the first two. SANDY BOY raced f orwardly under slight reserve, but his saddle slipped and , as his rider shook his mount up and could not be given justice in the final drive. OUR LILLY was hard ridden, but was not good enough. TRUE CHARM was allowed to fall out of contention and was held safe. IVY MAXWELL was weakly ridden and was never a factor. OVER YONDER followed in closest attendance of the winner throughout, but could not menace at any stage. THUMBS DOWN worked his way up on the outside and finished courageously. ROUND TABLE, "away flatfooted, worked his way into contention on the inside, but had too much taken out of him and tired steadily in ihe last five-sixteenths. MOTLEY could not reach a contending position at any stage. PEPPER PATCH had no excuses. STRATAGIST II. was done early. Overweight Pepper Patch, 24 pounds. Corrected weight First Entry, 120. The latter, taken in hand after getting away nicely, worked his way to the leaders stoutly, but faltered when reaching the stretch. BRINY DEEP was far out of contention, circled his field and finished gamely. KNACK was stoutly ridden all the way and had no mishaps. LANGUOROUS tired after three-quarters.
