SHIPPING WIDENER STABLE Pete Coyne Sending Sixteen Horses to Belmont Park Course From Louisville, Kentucky. LOUISVILLE, Ky., April 5. Pete Coyne is shipping sixteen horses to Belmont Park on Saturday. They comprise the eastern division of the Joseph E. Widener stable, and the four-year-old Optic is the dean. Three three-year-olds, namely, Bucking, Knoxville, a brother to Peace Chance, and Transmitter, and twelve two-year-olds, complete the division. Among the younger brigade, Sickle is represented by two offspring, Omnibus, a half brother to Chanceview, and Miss Brief, a sister to Brevity. The others are Cupids Arrow, Holbein, Minstrel Wit, Nijinsky, Rodin, Slumber, Crystal Maze, Melodies, Poesy and Secret Rose. Most of them are aptly named, Slumber being a son of Chance Shot and Siesta; Minstrel Wit, a son of Royal Minstrel and Native Wit, and Cupids Arrow, a son of Chance Shot and Love Dart. Rodin, a son of Chance Shot and Psyche is a half brother to Fencing, winner of the 1937. Blue Grass Stakes. Danny Stewart, who returned to Mr. Wideners Elmendorf Farm last week, will have about fourteen head in his western division. Stewart, who has the horses quartered at the farm, will van his charges to Keeneland to fill their engagements.
