RETIRE BATTLESHIP, GRAND I NATIONAL WINNER, TO STUD j NEW YORK, N. Y., April 5. Battleship, son of Man o War Quarantine, by Seasick, ran his last race when he won the Grand National, the worlds greatest steeplechase, at Aintree, Liverpool, some ten days ago. This was the statement made by his owner, Mrs. Marion Du Pont Scott, who arrived here Monday on the Queen Mary. "Battleship is still over there," she said, "but he will be retired to the stud within a few weeks." Mrs. Scott added that the result was a great surprise to her as she was more hopeful than confident that her little American thoroughbred would win. Battleship, eleven-year-old, is the first entire thoroughbred to win the Grand National since Luttereur II., owned by James Hennessey, the French distiller, scored in 1909.
