1 BOWIE TURF NOTES r- Woods Garth shipped the horses that he wintered at Charlottesville, Va., to Laurel for Maryland racing. J. P. Jones Jr., will ship the steeplechase horse he has at Laurel to Belmont Park to await racing there. P. E. Fitzgerald reported that Memoria foaled a chestnut filly by Canter Thursday morning. The new arrival is a full sister to Cant Remember. Frank Kilroe is due here on Saturday to confer with John B. Campbell in reference to the Jamaica opening. Racing secretary M. C. Shea, of Agawam Park, left for that point Tuesday to check over some details in regards to the opening of that meeting. Schooling exercises were abandoned at Bowie and other Maryland tracks Thursday morning, due to the steady downpour and lack of barrier candidates. Jockey L. Haas left for Jamaica to report to his employer, J. B. Theall, and await the opening of the metropolitan season. The horses owned by J. B. Black arrived at Havre de Grace Thursday from Tropical. James Jones arrived here from New Orleans with the plater Mad Gallop. Jockey Lee Turner, who severed his connection with the Bomar Stable, will ride as a free lance during the Maryland season. His engagements will be made by J. Moore. Jack Campbell, Marshall Cassidy and Francis Dunne will leave for Jamaica the concluding day of this meeting and take over their respective positions on the metropolitan circuit.
