HAPPY DINAH went to the front soon after the start and, showing a good turn of early speed, opened tip a commanding lead while saving ground in the stretch to win decisively. BOSTON BROOK lacked early speed and dropped back to last place after breaking well, then came gamely under punishment in the last half mile and was gaining slowly at the end. PATROLITE raced evenly. CALAVERAS lacked early speed and was in close quarters on the inside, but came to the outside in the stretch and finished fairly well. MASKED GAL and PEP TALK had early speed, but tired. CLEANUP moved up steadily after leaving the back stretch and had little trouble leading the others. SKY SHOOT had early speed and raced fairly well to the finish. MARGIEBELL was never a serious contender. HOWDOINO was eased back repeatedly while in close quarters on the inside in the early running and did not gain racing room until nearing the finish, then came fast. PUDDIN tired in the stretch. ONUS, weakly handled, was permitted to drop far back of the pace in the first three-quarters and did not make his move until too late, but came fast and was gaining rapidly at the finish. BALTIMORE BOY was close enough to the winner in the early part, but was used up, and tired in the stretch. CORUM showed a dull effort. BRILLIANT LIGHT was through after going three-quarters. TRIPLANE, showing remarkable improvement over recent races, was close to the pace from the start and, catching HIGH MARTIN and OUR REIGH after entering the final eighth, raced well to the end. OUR REIGH was closer to the pace than usual in the early running and raced well to the finish. BEST BEAU was in close quarters on the inside in the early running, but raced fairly well when clear. ILLEANNA was through after making a brief move on the back stretch and turned in a weak performance. HIGH MARTIN was saved as much as possible while remaining in front to the stretch, but then tired. DAILY NEWS offered stubborn contention and was gradually wearing down the winner near the end. HIGHMOST set the pace and offered a bold bid when challenged, hut was not good cnoueh. ONEILL, far out in the track all the way, improved his position, but was no threat. NIGHT GAIL failed to rally to pressure. BLUE HOUR had no excuse. The others were outrun.
