STONE MARTIN PASSES ON Veteran Hourless Horse Destroyed at Tropical After 226th Appearance in Racing Colors. Like the pitcher that went to the well once too often, Stone Martin, the veteran Hour-less horse, ran one race too many and came to grief, breaking his shoulder at Tropical Park last Tuesday, which necessitated his destruction. This year was the ninth in which the moth-eaten appearing vet came out for war on the turf. In 1933 he had more rest than in any other season, getting to the post only fourteen times. Up to the time of his destruction he had almost as many starts this. year. During his nine campaigns on American tracks, he earned 0,360; won forty-seven races, finished second thirty-seven times, third thirty-four and was unplaced in 108 races. His last appearance was his 226th in racing colors. Anybody who ever saw Stone Martin once, did not forget him. His markings were such that his ap pearance became fixed in the mind. Following is the complete racing record of Stone Martin: STONE MARTIN, b. h. 10, by Hourless , Martin Bird, by Sir Martin. Year. Age. Sts. 1st. 2nd. 3rd.Unpl.
