APPREHEND moved into contention fast on the outside after the start, was taken under restraint briefly and assumed command when urged rounding the stretch turn, holding his opposition safe to the end though pulling up sore. AMERICAN BELLE, slow to settle into stride in the early running, was placed under pressure in the stretch and finished vcith a rush. DIZZY DAME was well up all the way and had no mishaps. IRENES BOB raced forwardly from the start and had no mishaps. ITSIE BITSIE showed speed, but quit under pressure. LAPIS moved into contention with a rush from a slow beginning, but tired. WISE MONEY had no mishaps. HAPPY HOST tired badly after showing early speed. The others had no excuse. VESTALE was eased back early and then sent up on the outside after going a quarter mile, responded to urging in the stretch run and finished fast to wear down SECRET CHATTER in the final drive. The latter raced prominently from the start, assumed command rounding, the stretch turn, but could not withstand the winner. JACKS QUEEN, well up all the way, was sent up on the outside nearing the stretch turn, but faltered in the final drive. WANTED closed some ground after dropping back after the start. EVER GRAND had no excuse. PETITE FILLE quit after showing early speed. NEEDMORE showed early speed through the deeper going. HAPPY CHASE could not improve his position. The others had no excuse. . POSTAGE DUE, suited by the going, displayed good speed from the start, responded when urged in the stretch run, shook off FAST EXPRESS and drew away under urging. FAST EXPRESS was sent into com-mand after the start and, rated along steadily, made a determined bid in the stretch run, but could not menace the winner. PORCELLUS was under restraint when outrun, then came to the outside and finished well. MY ELSIE was close up in the early stages but would not extend herself when hard urged. CHANCING had no excuse. GHOST QUEEN was taken up at the start but improved her position with a rush, was then taken in hand and followed the pace closely, assuming the lead in the stretch, to win under mild urging. ENDYMION moved up fast nearing the far turn, then came around the leaders and closed with a rush. SIR BEVIDERE forced the pace from the start, moved into command rounding the stretch turn and responded when called upon in the stretch, but hung at the end. JACQUELINE M. showed a flash of early speed. GREENSKI quit under urging. GHOST TRAIN could not keep up. Scratched 55560 King Pharamond, 122. Overweight Jacqueline M., 2 pounds. SWAHILI, fractious at the post, raced well and made up some ground through the stretch. EASTPORT showed a flash of early speed, but then quit. TRINA had no mishaps. SUN POWER was outrun all the way. The latter was close up froin the start, moved into command on the inside when straightened out for the stretch run and held on gamely. JIM JOHN was outrun early, but improved his position steadily on the outside rounding the far turn and closed well. AIRLAP was rushed into command rounding the first turn, drew into a safe lead, but quit badly. BLADE EDGE raced evenly. JAMES SALKELD lacked early speed. GENTLEMAN had no mishaps.
