LITTLE SHAVER, away slowly, was sent up fast to force the early pace, withstood a stout drive and fought it out gamely at the finish. ISOLATER, rated close to the loaders, gained stoutly when placed to a hard drive, came to the outside and finished fast to figure in a dead heat. HIGH HEDGE displayed nice speed when sent into the lead, saved ground all the way, but failed to withstand the first two under a severe drive. BOOTLESS, lacking early speed, came strongly in the stretch run. MOSAWTRE was in the thick of contention throughout. TEDDYS STAR had no excuse. JOURNEY ON raced well. CRIUS was outrun. PAY-OFF IN ALL DEAD HEATS In the case of any and all dead heats, wagers made away from the track the chart prices should prevail if track odds were offered and accepted. Where house odds were accepted, the procedure should be as follows: If was bet on each horse and 3 to 1 laid on one horse, the pay-oft should be 2.00 to the player and .00 to the layer; 11 2 to 1 was laid on the other, the pay-off should be .50 to the player and .50 to the layer Where one of the horses in a dead heat is . quoted at odds-on, or less than even money, the transaction is a loser. For instance, il is bet on a 4 to 5 shot, lie pay-off In the dead beat would be 90 cents to the layer and 90 cents to the .player. The amount of money bet, plus the odds laid, with the total divided equally between- the player and layer, is the regular method of pay-off in dead heats where bookmaking odds prevail.
